No offense, but I've never ...

No offense, but I've never heard the name "Foy Vance" until an excerpt of your blog appeared in my email, since I use "Google Alert" for the words "Oklahoma" and "music", and both of those were in your blog, lol! As a singer/songwriter and avid musicican myself (and Christian-- with many friends in the denomination your father must have been a part of), I am also sad for the omission of instruments in their church denomination. Not that it's a matter of heaven or hell, salvation or eternal gloom, but just an "assumed negative", since they don't see instruments mentioned in the New Testament, but proclaimed over and over in the Old Testament. The main thing that changed between the Old and New Testaments was the incarnation (coming in the flesh) of God to the earth-- in the Person of Jesus. How we worship-- including instruments-- did not change. Don't want to argue theology, but say that even in that "omission", as you aluded to, the VOICE is prominent, and the BEAUTY and ability to HEAR, harmonize, and focus on the WORDS is the GOOD that comes out of that design of worship. So that's a GOOD thing! None of us have ALL the answers, and NO church worship is "perfect"-- I guess we'll have to wait until Heaven to truly experience that (as close as we might come, here on earth with all the GREAT music we've heard-- and that we might even be privileged enough to produce ourselves!). Until now, I'll settle for a piece of Heaven and KEEP MAKING MUSIC!!! Rock on!! Becky Wright-- in OKLAHOMA!!! www.beckywrightsongs.com
