It's my job to do the gig; all you had to do buy the tickets.

Having said that I am sorry for those of you that got turned away on Monday past at the Freedm Studio, it was a very enjoyable gig.  I love the intimate venues, it's so much easier to get a vibe going than in a large room.

So much has happened since last we spoke.  I've been puked on, caught up in an Amy Winehouse Paparazzi shoot and had my guitar and gear lost for days while everyone I spoke to told me a different story of where it was... that all began on the first day of the tour....

It turned out to be a great tour though and I had some wonderful gigs along the way.  The highlight, beyond a shadow of doubt, was in Dingle on the South West Coast of Ireland. I was playing on a Music TV show for RTE called 'Other Voices'.  It's a beautiful show, recorded in an old Church.  I played a short set and then was joined for my final song by Sineád O'Connor.  It was a beautiful moment for me.  I had asked her to duet with me for the Christmas Special I'm doing on Radio Ulster thinking that we'd just record it backstage at the show we did together in November on acoustic...  In stead I got to record it with her in this beautiful Church with Jules Maxwell on Piano and Kieran Kylie of Low Whistle.  The song I wanted to record with her was 'Fairytale of New York'.  I've always felt it was the most stunning song of it's kind.  We did it like a ballad, relying more on the dialogue between the two characters.  The real beauty was that we didn't get a chance to rehearse it.

The first time I heard Sineád sing her part it was in front of a live audience and being recorded for TV broadcast!  It gave such a wonderful energy to the song.  I almost forgot to sing at one point, it was that beautiful listening to her...

I'm recording in Belfast this Sunday with a host of Northern Irish Artists, we're gonna do our own take on 'Do They Know it Christmas' for the radio show...

I'll let you know a bit more about what's happening in this radio show over the next week or so... till then...

Good to hear from you and that the tour went well. I missed the bloggy update things you had goin on there for a while, figured you had gone into premature retirement or something.. You forgot to mention about the big NYE gig in belfast that your putting on with Ocean Colour Scene, David Holmes et al. Tickets are going fast for this one apparently, I only discovered about it by chance and I'm on this site nearly everyday! So to anyone else, get your (free) tickets now from the Belfast Welcome centre! This Xmas gig sounds cool, hope theres room for a small audience?? Details details details...

I can't wait to see the Other Voices appearance..... such a great show. Hopefully you'll sneak in a couple of smaller gigs in Belfast over the holidays?? Keep us posted. BTW - The new look on your MySpace page seems to upset my computer... not sure if it's just me. Anyways, Good luck!!

Hope you got your gear back ok. Loved hearing those stories about Amy and the "elegant lady" on the train at the Dublin gig. You have great stage presence. I'm so excited about the Other Voices show. Do you know when it will be aired? Fairytale of New York is the best Christmas song ever, in my opinion! and i know you're version will be amazing.

So much has happened, but you now have me wondering who boked on you; was it Sinead in the church after a few sneaky swallies of the buckfast?
